School News: Historic Performance at PIAA State Cross Country Meet for Hershey High School

History was made at the PIAA State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, as Hershey High School’s cross country team turned in remarkable performances. The highlight of the day was Vinay Raman, who etched his name into the school’s athletic history by finishing 3rd overall in the Boys AAA Race. This incredible achievement not only marked the highest placement for a Hershey runner at the state meet but also made Raman the first Trojan runner to earn three state medals over his high school career.

Raman’s performance was a testament to his dedication and talent, as he continues to push the limits of what’s possible on the cross country course. With his 3rd-place finish, he cemented his legacy as one of Hershey’s finest athletes and a trailblazer for future runners.

But Raman wasn’t alone in his success. Jacob Abraham also turned in an outstanding performance, placing 12th in the boys race. His finish helped make history as the second time ever that Hershey had two state medalists in the same race, a feat that reflects the strength and depth of the team.

The boys team collectively earned an 11th-place finish overall, capping off another highly successful season for Hershey Trojan XC. With two state medalists and a top team finish, the Trojans showed they are a powerhouse in Pennsylvania cross country.

On the girls’ side, Sophia Kim and Evy Winder both ran strong races, finishing 88th and 110th, respectively. While they didn’t medal, their efforts contributed to the team’s overall success and are a sign of the potential that lies ahead for Hershey’s female runners in future seasons.

It was a fantastic day for Trojan cross country, and the athletes’ dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship throughout the season shone brightly at the state meet. Congratulations to all the runners and coaches for a season to be proud of!
