Farm to Fork: Pronio’s Sicilian Pasta & Olive Oil

There’s something special happening on the shelves at Pronio’s Market—and it’s not just the old-school charm or the smell of fresh bread. It’s a new chapter in a 100+ year legacy: the launch of Pronio’s Sicilian handmade pasta and olive oil, developed and imported by the next generation, Matthew and James Pronio.

“My sons went to Italy two years ago, looking for small-scale producers of high-quality products,” said Mike Pronio. “They found a pasta maker and an olive oil producer they loved—and they brought those products back to Hershey under the Pronio’s name.”

And the response? Immediate.

The first shipment of 70 cases of olive oil sold out in under three weeks. And it’s no surprise. This isn’t your everyday olive oil—it's rich, flavorful, and designed for tasting, not just cooking. Ideal for dressings, dipping, and drizzling, the oil is cold-pressed, pure, and made in small batches from real Sicilian olives.

And the pasta? Handcrafted in Italy using traditional methods, the Pronio’s-branded pasta has quickly become a customer favorite for its texture, quality, and authenticity.

“This is high-end stuff,” Mike said. “You taste the difference.”

More shipments are on the way this spring, with plans to expand the line. The move represents more than a new product—it’s a passing of the torch, a blending of heritage and forward-thinking, rooted in the same values that built the original market: quality, tradition, and family.

It’s rare to see a small-town store survive for over a century. Rarer still is one that keeps evolving—without ever losing what made it special.

So next time you’re in Hershey, stop by. Pick up a bottle of Pronio’s olive oil. Grab a pack of pasta. And know that when you do, you’re not just feeding your family—you’re supporting one.
