What does your business do?

The Farmhouse at Englewood Hershey is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a gathering place that offers specialty coffee, breakfast, and lunch with a focus on fresh, quality ingredients. As part of the Englewood Hershey campus, we complement the live music and dining experience by providing a warm and inviting space for locals and visitors alike. With great coffee, thoughtful food, and a welcoming atmosphere, The Farmhouse is where community and creativity come together.

Why did you start your business?

The Farmhouse was born from a passion for bringing people together through shared experiences. As musicians, we understand the power of connection, and we wanted to extend that beyond music into food and coffee. The opportunity to create a place where Hershey’s residents and visitors could enjoy great conversations, a sense of community, and a touch of inspiration felt like the perfect fit.

bookkeeping. Most of the time when I’m meeting with these business owners, either they're doing the bookkeeping themselves to start or maybe a family member is doing it. It's nice that I can have a deeper understanding for how things should be recorded, the accounting side of things. That's really what got me interested in it; knowing that I could help business owners a little bit more. I think taking that off their plate is a big help. One of the most satisfying parts of doing this is that I can see a lot of my clients actually working together or helping support each other in their small business through their transactions. I can see that John Doe from one business paid another one of my clients for goods or services. Also, probably 60-70% of my clients gave out a Christmas bonus. That's really cool to see behind the curtain.

What are some key moments in your journey?

One defining moment was the decision to take over the old building next to the barn that was formerly home to the Cocoa Beanery. It was an exciting chance to expand and further enrich the Englewood Hershey campus. Another significant milestone was navigating the challenges of COVID-19 during the early stages of opening. Though difficult, it allowed us to approach our rollout with more care and precision, setting the foundation for lasting success.

What drives you?

Our motivation comes from the people—our customers, our community, and our team. Listening to what our guests want and creating an experience that feels tailored to them is what fuels us. Additionally, we’re driven by the opportunity to foster growth and creativity within our team, ensuring they feel valued and inspired every day.

Can you share a major obstacle you faced and how you overcame it?

The onset of COVID-19 during the early stages of opening Englewood Hershey was a major hurdle. It forced us to pivot and rethink our approach, from operational plans to customer engagement. While challenging, the slower pace gave us time to refine our vision and build a strong foundation for the future. Flexibility and resilience were key to overcoming this obstacle.

What advice would you give others looking to start business?

Be prepared to adapt. Challenges will come, and not everything will go as planned, but flexibility and determination will keep you moving forward. Stay grounded in your “why,” and let that guide you through the ups and downs.

Are there any community projects you are passionate about?

We’re honored to be the official home of the PA Music Hall of Fame. This partnership allows us to celebrate Pennsylvania’s incredible musical legacy and showcase the talent that has shaped our region’s culture.

Is there something interesting about you we might not guess?

The Farmhouse and Englewood Hershey are rooted in history. The Farmhouse was built in 1858, and the barn that now houses our live music venue was constructed in 1861. We’ve worked hard to preserve their historic charm while transforming them into spaces that feel modern and vibrant. From the original beams to the rustic details, you can find touches of the past throughout our property. It’s a reminder of the legacy we’re continuing as we bring people together to enjoy food, music, and community.
