Threads of Hershey is a personal styling business helping clients edit closets, build intentional wardrobes, and feel confident through a proven two-hour transformation method.
Speciality: closet editing and personal styling
At Threads, we help people edit their closets, style outfits, and shop strategically. But at a deeper level, what we really offer is a fresh start. That’s the heart of what we do.
We’ve developed and refined a method over the last 10 years that we’ve used with hundreds of clients. It hasn’t changed—because it works. In just two hours, there’s a genuine transformation: you reconnect with your clothes, your closet, and most importantly, with yourself. It's a game-changer.
We started Threads because we saw a need—not just for style support, but for empowerment. Our clients don’t just walk away with better wardrobes—they walk away feeling stronger and more confident.
Kristin: I love helping people—especially women—feel empowered. There’s no better feeling than leaving someone’s closet and knowing they’re going to wake up the next day, get dressed, and feel amazing. That’s what drives me.
Kristen: I genuinely get excited to go into my closet every morning and get dressed. Most people don’t feel that way—it’s overwhelming, stressful, and time-consuming. My hope is that after working with us, clients walk into their closets and feel calm, confident, and ready to take on the day.
Social media. There’s so much to learn and manage, and it can be overwhelming. We hired someone to help guide us through the process, and since then, it’s been a game-changer.
Kristin: If you can, find a partner. It’s hard to start a business on your own. We’ve been friends for over 30 years, and yes—our lawyer warned us about going into business as friends. But it works because we deeply trust each other. Kristen started the business, and I joined her about 7 years ago.
Kristen: Surround yourself with trusted mentors. When we wrote our book, we had an advisory group we leaned on for feedback. Their support was essential. If we hadn’t opened ourselves up to that kind of guidance, I’m not sure we would’ve made it.
It’s more of a mantra for us: “Style is supposed to be easy.”
We say that a lot. We also love Coco Chanel’s advice: “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Though honestly, some people might need to add one more.
We’ve donated closet audits to many local fundraisers and auctions over the years, which has been both fun and meaningful. One standout moment was partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where we gave a closet audit to the mother of a recipient. She might never have sought us out otherwise, and it had a lasting impact.
We also work with the Allison Hill Community Ministry, collecting clothing and helping create a dignified shopping experience for their clients.
Our book took three years to complete, and now we’re reconnecting with boutiques as part of our next chapter.
Also—we’ve been friends for over 30 years, and it still works!
Kristin: I’m a basketball junkie. I got into it to connect with my kids and now I follow the 76ers (and all things baseketball) religiously.
Kristen: I was a Division I athlete… and I hate to exercise.
