What does your business do?

PR and marketing services for businesses, small to large

Why did you start your business?

I started my business because I knew that there was a lack in the client relationship between agencies and their clients. I really, truly feel like marketing should not be an exclusive club. I wanted to get people the support that they need without being swindled into all these other things agencies might want to sell.

What are some key moments in your journey?

When I started Street Cred after doing freelancing, the clients just came through word of mouth. I did not do any outreach. And it showed me that my business model is going to be beneficial to a lot of people.

What drives you?

Knowing that I'm helping people. I buzz with excitement when I get something for a client, when I know that they're going to be featured on air, when there's an article that comes out that highlights them the way that they want to be highlighted. It's such a wonderful feeling.

What are your core values or passions?

Transparency. PR is truly a beast that you have to tame, I want clients, when they leave me, to leave because we’ve accomplished the goals we set.  I spent five to seven years of my life working for different agencies and realizing they were all the same; they promised life on a silver plater but couldn’t deliver. But those experiences helped me create what I have now and transparency is a big part of it.

What advice would you give others looking to start business?

Take the first step! I mean, with Street Cred, I took the first step in April last year, and look where I'm at now. It's all about starting where you are.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

“Live in day-tight compartments.” That’s from Dale Carnegie. It’s the same principle as watertight compartments on a ship. In the same way, we can live each day concentrating only on what is happening at those moments, ignoring the mistakes of yesterday or the stress of tomorrow.

Is there something interesting about you we might not guess?

Oh, I’m a big Mets and Jets fan. Unfortunately, our New York teams do not provide lots of love to us, but it's always fun to watch them. I was born in PA, but my family is from New York and I definitely have that blood running through me.
