Accuwrite Print and Promo is a family-owned print and promo company in downtown Hershey providing custom printing, branded merchandise, and promotional products for businesses and organizations.

Speciality: custom printing and branded promotional products

What does your business do?

At Accuwrite, we provide tangible marketing solutions for businesses and organizations that want to strengthen their brand presence. We produce custom-printed materials such as letterhead, brochures, and notepads, along with branded promotional products like apparel, drinkware, and giveaways. If it can carry a logo, we can produce it. Our goal is to help businesses create lasting impressions through high-quality print and promotional items.

Why did you start your business?

Our father started Accuwrite in the late 1980s, originally focusing on one-write check systems and operational forms. As the industry evolved, we recognized an opportunity to expand into promotional products, branded merchandise, and broader marketing materials. We’ve worked to modernize and grow Accuwrite while maintaining the strong customer-first foundation our father built. It’s important to us that the business continues to reflect both innovation and family legacy.

What are some key moments in your journey?

Ali joined the business in 2011 and brought a strong interest in marketing and creativity. She led a major rebrand of Accuwrite to better represent the expanded services we now offer. Gordie joined in 2019–2020, bringing experience in sales and deep connections within fire and emergency services. His background helped us better serve first responders and municipal organizations. Another defining moment came when we unexpectedly lost a longtime office manager. It forced us to adapt quickly, take on new responsibilities, and strengthen internal systems. It was difficult, but it ultimately made the business stronger.

What drives you?

We believe branding is more than placing a logo on a product. It’s about helping businesses build recognition, communicate professionalism, and connect with their communities. We aim to function as an extension of our clients’ teams rather than just a vendor. Trust and long-term relationships matter to us, and we want every finished product to reflect the quality of the organizations we serve.

Can you share a major obstacle you faced and how you overcame it?

For Gordie, entering a new industry required learning printing, branding, and design from the ground up. Much of that knowledge came through hands-on experience and persistence. For Ali, balancing business ownership with family life has been one of the greatest challenges. Running a family-owned business offers flexibility, but it also demands constant attention. Learning how to manage time effectively while staying present at home and engaged at work has been an ongoing process.

What advice would you give others looking to start business?

Take the leap. Starting is often the hardest part. Be authentic in how you represent yourself and your business, because customers can sense when something isn’t genuine. Ask questions, seek guidance, and be willing to learn from others. Growth requires humility and curiosity.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

“You were born to create.” That mindset fuels our passion for marketing, design, and branding. We also believe in taking every client’s brand personally and treating each project as if it were our own.

Are there any community projects you are passionate about?

Supporting local organizations is important to us. We work with Cocoa Packs by helping produce branded merchandise to raise awareness for childhood hunger relief. We support 321 For Life, which advocates for individuals with Down syndrome; Ali serves on the board and is deeply committed to that mission. We also work closely with the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, providing branded gear and fundraising merchandise for first responders.

Is there something interesting about you we might not guess?

Gordie has been a volunteer firefighter with the Hershey Fire Department for more than a decade and has served as a lieutenant. Ali enjoys hot yoga and reading and is constantly generating creative ideas for both the business and her home. Accuwrite is entirely family-owned and operated, and even our children occasionally help sort merchandise or spend time at the office.
