Building community is at the heart of one of the newest businesses welcomed into Hershey. Wild + Free Power Yoga opened the doors to its second location in early February while continuing to maintain its first location in Elizabethtown.

With 14 instructors and more than 50 classes a week being taught between the two studios, Wild + Free Power Yoga classes are designed for all experience levels. Their signature class style, power flow, consists of powerful movement and intentional stillness through the “teach flow, let go” style, all with the room being heated to 90 degrees.

“We teach you a series of postures, then we flow those postures together, and then we crank the music up to full volume and then get out of your way so that you can establish a rhythm of those postures to the rhythm of your breathing.” said owner Lindsay Helt.

Other class styles include slow power flow, which is similar to the power flow class but simply slowed down, and candlelight zin is slowed down even further to focus more intentionally on slow movements.

Helt opened the first Wild + Free Power Yoga just under two years ago in Elizabethtown, but her yoga journey began well before that.

As a mom to three little ones, life was chaotic, and in searching for ways to take a temporary break from the chaos, she began to practice yoga.

“It started as just a practice for me,” said Helt. “But then it was all I thought about, I kept seeking more trainings, more opportunities to just gain the knowledge, and once I started teaching, I just fell in love with the art of teaching yoga.”

Helt created Lindsay Helt Yoga, where she was taught classes at a studio and at other smaller community events, but still maintained two jobs and found struggle in giving little pieces of herself to all these different areas.

“I just felt like I was being stretched really thin,” said Helt. But, during this time, she also began to create a following with her classes and was able to identify what they were truly seeking. “I noticed there was this sort of hunger for community and connection and spaces where people could come together. Yoga is really a great part of it, but people are craving a space to feel welcomed.”

Helt then quit her other jobs and focused all her time, energy and space into what she truly loved – yoga. Shortly then after, a building space became available in Elizabethtown, and Helt took the leap into opening her first studio under the new name Wild + Free Power Yoga.

After seeing how quickly a community was built at the studio in Elizabethtown, Helt is excited to now build that in Hershey.

“I’m looking forward to people who can come into here as strangers and leave friends, and people who come in and have a rough day and leave feeling a little lighter,” said Helt.

“Life can get kind of mundane and routine, so just to have a space where you can tap out for a little bit and not feel the heavy.”

With the new space in Hershey, Wild + Free Power Yoga has come together with Hershey Personal Training, CrossFit Gamma, Just Juice and Kona Nutrition to create the Wellness Warehouse, the one stop shop to your health and wellness journey.
