St. Elizabeth’s Guild’s annual Souper Bowl Soup Sale, benefitting Catholic Charities Homes for Healing, will be held after masses throughout the Harrisburg Diocese the weekend of Feb. 8 and 9.
Participating churches include St. Joan of Arc, Hershey; Holy Spirit, Palmyra; Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Middletown; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Mechanicsburg; St. Margaret Mary, Harrisburg; St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Harrisburg; and St. Theresa, New Cumberland.
All proceeds from the sales will benefit the Catholic Charities Homes for Healing, which include Evergreen House (for women recovering from addiction), Interfaith Shelter for Homeless Families and Lourdeshouse Maternity Home.
“The sale is the biggest fundraiser for Catholic Charities Homes for Healing,” according to Karen Willey of St. Joan of Arc Parish. “It is more important than ever that we be successful since funding continues to be cut.”
Willey said this year’s goal is to sell 1,500 quarts of soup among the parishes.
Among the more than 1,5000 quarts of soup at the event will be Kihm’s Vegetarian Tomato Carrot soup (left). Photos: Submitted.
All of the soup is homemade, frozen in plastic quart containers and available for purchase after mass for $10 per quart.
The diocese encourages all to stop by the Catholic church near you to purchase some soup for a “souper” cause.
